A liner is the part of a steel wall pool that actually holds the water, and it is the part that is replaced while the pool stays. It is sold on one number and fitted on two. The number is the thickness, and this shelf publishes it honestly in millimetres — 0,25, 0,40, 0,60 and 0,80 mm all appear, and the difference between the thinnest and the thickest is a factor of three in material and roughly a factor of two in service life. A 0,25 mm liner is an entry product; 0,40 mm is the common replacement grade; 0,60 and 0,80 mm are what a pool meant to stay in the ground gets. The two fitting numbers are the diameter and the wall height, and they have to match the pool exactly, because a liner is welded to a fixed girth: a 3,60 × 0,90 m liner does not go into a 3,50 m pool. The third thing to read is the fixing, which is not interchangeable either — overlap liners (überlappend) fold over the top of the wall and are held by the coping, keder or bead liners hook into a rail, and wedge liners sit in a groove. Then the material: PVC calendered sheet, with UV and chlorine stabilisers that nobody quantifies and everybody claims.
