Pumps for filtering and for emptying
These two pumps are opposites. One is built to pass solids and empty a pool; the other is built to pass nothing and keep it clear. Confusing them is a genuine and expensive mistake.
The drainage pump is rated in watts, which describes what it draws rather than what it moves. The figures that decide its usefulness are the maximum head it can lift against and the residual depth it can pull down to, and where a listing omits those, the review says so rather than reading them into the wattage.
The sand system is rated in litres per hour at a reference head. That rating is a ceiling, not a working figure — every metre of hose and every bend takes some of it back.
